Welcome to week 1 of the NFL. Here’s my take. I will have 3 players in all of my builds this weekend.
One of my top NFL DFS picks for Week 1 is Tyler Higbee. He is a solid start this week. With Cooper Kupp being out, the Rams are going to need to rely on a few other playmakers and Higbee was solid last season.
Winning the MillyMaker often requires thinking outside the box, and I construct rosters with a target outcome of 214 points.
The success of this approach varies—sometimes it proves effective, while other times it doesn’t. But, I am playing for first place. If you’re curious to learn more about what I mean by this, check out further details here. “Playing For First’ in NFL.”
Let’s Go!

Tight End: Tyler Higbee
- Overall 2023 Performance:
- Higbee accumulated 80.0 fantasy points in the season, averaging 4.7 points per game.
- He was ranked 14th at his position (likely tight end) and 149th in the NFL.
- Best Game:
- Higbee had his best game of the season in Week 16 against the Denver Broncos, scoring 21.4 fantasy points.
- In that game, he had nine receptions for 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
- Week 15 Performance:
- In Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers, Higbee scored 8.7 fantasy points, which was his second-highest total of the season.
- He contributed with four receptions for 27 receiving yards and one touchdown in that game.
Another player to consider is Bears running back Khalil Herbert, Herbert finds himself atop the Bears running back depth chart, and that’s not a bad place to be. In 2022, only two teams had more rushing attempts per game than the Bears, and the Green Bay Packers allowed the eighth most fantasy points per game to the position
Running Back: Khalil Herbert
- Overall 2023 Performance:
- Khalil Herbert accumulated 108.8 fantasy points in the season, averaging 8.4 points per game.
- He was ranked 36th at his position (likely running back) and 109th in the league.
- Best Game (Week 3):
- Herbert had a standout performance in Week 3 against the Houston Texans, scoring a season-high 28.9 fantasy points.
- In that game, he had 20 carries for 157 rushing yards and scored two rushing touchdowns.
- Second-Best Game (Week 8):
- Herbert’s second-best fantasy outing of the season occurred in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, where he scored 15.9 fantasy points.
- He had 16 carries for 99 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in that game.
- Worst Game (Week 16):
- Herbert posted a season-low 0.3 fantasy points in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills.
- In that game, he had 6 carries for only 7 rushing yards.
- Second-Worst Game (Week 5):
- In his second-worst fantasy showing of the season, Herbert finished with 1.1 fantasy points in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings.
- He had 4 carries for 11 rushing yards in that game.
let’s talk about Tyreek Hill’s stats in 2022. Man, this guy is a beast on the field! In the 2022 season, Hill has been tearing it up. He’s been racking up the yards and making some insane catches. I mean, this dude is fast as lightning. Tyreek, who recorded 119 catches (on 170 targets) for 1,710 yards. is slated to reprise his role as a focal point in a Miami passing attack.
Wide Receiver: Tyreek Hill
- Best Game (Week 2):
- In Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, Tyreek Hill had his best game of the season, scoring 31.0 fantasy points.
- He recorded 11 receptions for 190 receiving yards and scored two touchdowns in that game.
- Second-Best Game (Week 13):
- In Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers, Hill had his second-highest fantasy point total of the season, with 20.6 points.
- He had nine receptions for 146 receiving yards and scored one touchdown.

How I did Boom or Bust; “Monday Morning Quarterbacking”
Tyler Higbee – Bust – Mathew Stafford threw the ball 37 times and the TE Higbee say only 3 targets. But he made the most of his three targets for 7.9 points on DraftKings.
Khalil Herbert – Bust – The Bears team as a whole looked bad. The opportunity for Herbert was just not there, he had 9 rushing attempts for 27 yards and was targeted 5 times for 37 yards.
Tyreek Hill – Boom – Tyreek is going to be a dominant WR this year, and every opportunity I can I will play him. He had 11 receptions for 215 yards and 2 TDs.
On to week 8, we go!
