My Showdown Picks for Draftkings:

The Week 2 showdown slate between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills sets the stage for an exciting, high-scoring fantasy contest. Josh Allen is the premier captain option due to his rushing upside’ Allen’s ability to exploit the Dolphins’ aggressive defense makes him a must-have in DFS lineups. On the other side, Tua Tagovailoa has high upside, particularly if this turns into a shootout, as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle both possess game-breaking potential and are elite DFS choices in this single-game format.

For value, James Cook and De’von Achane will provide flex options with potential to hit big in PPR formats. Cook’s role as a pass-catching back adds sneaky upside, while Achane speed and pass-catching makes him a threat to break off a long run or score a touchdown.

Both defenses could be overlooked, but if either team can force turnovers or sacks, they could add unexpected value in a showdown slate that might not shoot off, contrarian play.

Josh Allen seems like the obvious choice for captain, and he’ll be in a lot of the builds I create. However, I think the best strategy might be to avoid using him as captain since most of the field will likely do the same. A contrarian approach would be to captain a lower-owned player with significant upside, like James Cook. This type of play could give you an edge in tournaments, especially if Cook has a breakout game while Allen still performs well but doesn’t dominate as the captain.

** Update – Achane is in but how well is he. Jeff Wilson Jr and Jaylen Wright would be optimal Plays. It is raining in Miami and very humid. **

Recap Friday

How I did Boom or Bust; “Friday Morning Quarterbacking”

Hello, all it’s a Tuesday and time to look back and say to myself, what I should’ve, could’ve, and would’ve done differently, as a DFS player.

I used to spend most of my time looking forward to the next slate, the next season, and so forth. I find it equally important to stop, take a breath, and start looking back at the process that led me to a winning or losing lineup.

———————————————————————————————————–

Here are some thoughts I had in this one.In their highly anticipated matchup, the Buffalo Bills secured a decisive victory over the Miami Dolphins, showcasing their dominance in all phases of the game. The final score reflected the Bills’ strong performance, with a final tally of 31-10.

Offensive Performance:
The Bills’ offense was clicking, led by quarterback Josh Allen. Who did not have his best game, He threw for 139 yards and 1 TD, delivering several key passes that helped maintain momentum throughout the game. Running back James Cook also made significant contributions, rushing for 78 yards and finding the end zone, twice which kept the Dolphins’ defense on its heels.

Defensive Efforts:
Buffalo’s defense played a crucial role in the win, effectively shutting down Miami’s high-powered offense. They managed to pressure Dolphins quarterback Skyler Thompson, recording 2 sacks and forcing 3 turnovers. The secondary did an excellent job containing Miami’s receiving threats, limiting big plays and keeping the Dolphins from establishing a rhythm. Except for Achane who racked up rushing yards and a TD.

Key Moments:
Several key moments defined the game. A crucial interception by Taron Johnson  shifted momentum back to the Bills just when the Dolphins were starting to gain traction. Additionally, a standout performance from Ed Oliver—who made significant defensive plays—helped solidify the Bills’ control over the game.

Coaching Decisions:
Buffalo’s coaching staff made effective decisions, balancing aggressive play-calling with strategic conservatism to maintain their lead. Their ability to adapt throughout the game kept Miami guessing and contributed to the overall success of the team.

Looking Ahead:
With this victory, the Bills not only secured an important win in their division but also gained momentum as they move deeper into the season. They’ll look to build on this performance in their upcoming games, aiming to solidify their position in the playoff race. The Dolphins will need to regroup and address their weaknesses to bounce back in their next matchup.

Overall, the Bills’ win over the Dolphins was a statement game, demonstrating their strength and setting the tone for the rest of the season. Plan to have key players in most of my lineups going forward this season. Mainly RB James Cook and De’von Achane.

Here’s a Breakdown of My lineup and their Fantasy Points:

NFL $2.25M Thursday Night Millionaire [$1M to 1st] (BUF @ MIA)

  • James Cook: 42.75 points (Capt)
  • Josh Allen: 9.7 points (Flex)
  • Keon Coleman: 0.0 points (Flex)
  • Jason Sanders: 4.0 points (Flex)
  • De’von Achane: 29.5 points (Flex)
  • Bills: 18.0 points (Flex)

This lineup ended cashing , which wasn’t what I was hoping for. I overlooked placing De’von Achane, the Miami running back, in captain position which really hurt my chances. His impact on the game made a difference. It’s a reminder to stay on top of all player options and not miss out on potential game-changers like Achane!
