My Showdown Picks for Draftkings:
Week 3 is here, and the New England Patriots face off against the New York Jets in what promises to be an exciting AFC East showdown. Both teams are coming into this game looking to make a statement. The Patriots, led by Jacoby Brissett will aim to get their offense rolling again after that disappointment lost against Seattle, while the Jets, bolstered by a strong defense, are hoping to hold firm and capitalize on their home-field advantage.

Friday recap from Thursday slates will be out on Friday afternoon below:

This matchup will feature a test of New England’s ability to adjust offensively and whether the Jets can pressure Jacoby Brissett and disrupt the Patriots’ running attack with Rhamondre Stevenson. Meanwhile, the Jets’ offense will look to create opportunities for their senior quarterback Aaron Rodgers while relying on playmakers like Garrett Wilson and their rushing game like Breece Hall to wear down the Patriots’ defense.
Whoever can control the tempo and limit turnovers could walk away with a crucial early-season win.

Recap Friday
How I did Boom or Bust; “Friday Morning Quarterbacking”
Hello, all it’s a Friday and time to look back and say to myself, what I should’ve, could’ve, and would’ve done differently, as a DFS player.
I used to spend most of my time looking forward to the next slate, the next season, and so forth. I find it equally important to stop, take a breath, and start looking back at the process that led me to a winning or losing lineup.
———————————————————————————————————–
Here are some thoughts I had in this one. The Jets secured a significant win over the New England 24-17. The victory showcased several key aspects of the Jets’ improved play on both sides of the ball.
Offensive Line Performance:
The Jets’ revamped offensive line was a major factor in the win. They allowed just one quarterback pressure on Aaron Rodgers throughout the game, giving him ample time to operate in the pocket. This allowed Rodgers to find his rhythm, delivering two touchdown passes and two big-time throws. The offensive line’s ability to hold up in pass protection was critical, as it neutralized the Patriots’ pass rush and provided Rodgers with the confidence to make plays downfield.
Rodgers’ Efficiency:
Despite some dropped passes from his receivers (three in total), Rodgers was efficient and effective. He took full advantage of the clean pocket created by his offensive line, distributing the ball efficiently and avoiding costly mistakes. His veteran presence and leadership were on display, as he orchestrated key drives that kept the Patriots’ defense on its heels.
Breece Hall’s Role in Pass Protection:
Running back Breece Hall played a mixed role in this game. While Hall was a dynamic offensive weapon, one of the few pressures on Rodgers was attributed to him in pass protection. Despite this, Hall contributed in both the running and passing games, helping to keep the offense balanced.
Defensive Play:
The Jets’ defense stepped up in crucial moments, particularly in the second half, limiting the Patriots’ ability to mount a comeback. The Jets forced key turnovers and applied consistent pressure on the Patriots’ quarterback. Their ability to get stops in critical situations was a major reason why the Jets were able to maintain their lead.
Key Moments:
- Rodgers’ Touchdowns: His two touchdown passes were pivotal, providing the Jets with a comfortable lead and allowing them to dictate the pace of the game.
- Turnovers: The Jets’ defense forced key turnovers, shifting momentum and giving the offense more opportunities to score.
- Final Defensive Stand: In the final moments, the Jets’ defense held strong, preventing the Patriots from mounting a game-tying or go-ahead drive.
Overall, the Jets’ victory over the Patriots was a statement win, signaling that the team’s investment in upgrading the offensive line and adding Aaron Rodgers to the roster is paying off. With solid protection, efficient play from Rodgers, and timely defensive stops, the Jets proved they are a team I be looking to target and watch in the AFC East.
Here’s a Breakdown of My lineup and their Fantasy Points:
NFL Showdown $400K Play-Action [20 Entry Max] (NE @ NYJ)
- Allen Lazard: 20.7 points (Capt)
- Aaron Rodgers: 21.04 points (Flex)
- Breece Hall: 18.3 points (Flex)
- Demario Douglas: 14.8 points (Flex)
- Tyler Conklin: 14.30 points (Flex)
- Jets: 16.0 points (Flex)
This lineup did cash, but if I had placed Aaron Rodgers as captain, it would have landed in first place. I’m happy with how the lineup performed overall, but missing out on that top spot stings a little. Rodgers’ big game, with those two touchdown passes and efficient play, would have been the perfect choice for the captain slot. Moving forward, I’ll definitely be more mindful of choosing high-impact players like him for that key position to maximize my lineup’s potential. Still, it was a solid outcome, and there’s always next time
