Hello everyone, SJ Wilson here! and welcome to my world. I created this blog to chronicle my journey into fantasy sports mainly football and basketball.

My goal is to make enough money to keep playing fantasy sports while having fun doing so. I am someone who loves sports. I come from a family who loves anything games or sports.
My passion for sports was created in me by my mother. She thought of sports especially tennis, boxing, basketball and football (Go Bears) as a lesson in life.
Individual and team sports offer numerous life lesson all the good stuff you try to teach your children Like:
Teamwork, Discipline, Resilience, Sportsmanship, Goal Setting, Leadership, Adaptability, Respect for Authority, Management and a Healthy Lifestyle.
Now, the Healthy Lifestyle I often fall short of, I love my potatoes chips and chocolate candy. All of these are lessons I learned from my mother. These lessons and tidbits are good stuff life is made of.
You still might be asking yourself but why would I start a sports fantasy blog? My answer is, why not! What else would I be doing with my spare time?
So, come back often and read what I have to say and take this journey with me. Below are some of the strategies I use playing DFS.
My Football Strategy:
- The 10-20-30 rule – It helps me identify players who are heavily involved in their teams’ offenses. by finding players with a high number of touches and targets. WRs who are targeted at least 10 times. RBs who touch the ball at least 20 times, QBs that throw the ball at least 30 times.
- *Questions* – I ask myself – Which QB gets 35 PPTs?. Which RB gets 2 TDs?, Which WR gets 30 PPTs?, Which TE gets 15 PPTs and which DEF gets 15+ PPTs?
- My approach in cash games, focusing on paying up for top running backs and potentially taking risks with cheaper wide receivers, which is a common strategy. Running backs even in todays NFL typically have a more predictable workload.
- In tournament games, I like to target quarterbacks who throw a lot against bad defensive teams. I target running backs who are explosive and catch passes. I use Correlations between high-scoring teams it leads to big payoffs.
- In Showdown Tournaments on DraftKings, I like the 4-1 or 5-1 builds, where you stack players from one team and mix in one player from the other team, choosing a receiver as my “one player” offers a smart play.
My Basketball Strategy:
- Targeting point guards and power forwards from high-paced teams is a solid approach, as it can lead to more opportunities for fantasy points. Paying up for the top shooting guard also makes sense, as they are often high-scoring players.
- Being prepared to make last-minute lineup changes based on projected player availability is crucial in daily fantasy basketball. I Utilize “If-Then” statements, “If “player A does not play, “Then” I will swap him for player B.
- Minutes played in the NBA are crucial for fantasy success. So, I play the guys or girls who are projected to play the most minutes. Players who see more playing time typically have more opportunities to accumulate points.
- I also pay attention to when starters are injured, I try to find value options on their teams.
- I find a balance approach by focusing on three value players under $6,000 and two favorites above $7,000 . Additionally, being overweight on players against the field’s ownership percentages is a way to differentiate my lineups and gain an edge. What I mean is. if the field of tournament players own an NBA player at 10 – 15%, and he or she is a good play. I will look to either fade that player or put that player in about 25% of my lineups.
Overall, my strategy or analytical approach in both football and basketball DFS. Is, Staying informed about player injuries, lineup changes, and team dynamics. I am still new to fantasy sports and I am excited about this journey.
Thanks for stopping by, Stay Awhile.
